The Role
Play a central role in the Office of the Director-General as Senior Executive Officer (AO6). You’ll keep a high-profile office running smoothly by managing the Director- General’s diary, correspondence, briefings and travel, while building trusted relationships across government and key stakeholders. This is a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the department’s strategic priorities, improve systems and processes, and mentor others in the Executive Officer network. If you’re highly organised, discreet, adaptable and thrive in a fast-paced environment, join a supportive team where your judgement, initiative and relationship skills will make a real impact.
Key Accountabilities:
• Provide confidential secretarial and executive support in a fast-paced, sensitive environment.
• Manage the DG's diary, correspondence and emails, including proactive allocation and redirection.
• Coordinate responses to requests for information and prepare timely, high-quality briefing materials.
• Build productive relationships across the department, the Minister's Office and other agencies.
• Manage travel arrangements, itineraries, bookings and expense reconciliation.
• Maintain systems and databases that support business improvement and innovation.
• Undertake research, analysis and ad hoc projects, and share knowledge across the Executive Officer network.
About You:
You bring strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent organisation and sound judgement. You can manage competing priorities, maintain discretion, and build trusted relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Previous experience supporting a senior executive, managing complex diaries and correspondence, and using government systems will be highly regarded, as will your willingness to learn. There are no mandatory requirements for this role.
The Benefits:
• Work in a small, supportive and high-performing team.
• Build networks across government and key sector stakeholders.
• Grow your capability in a high-profile role close to strategic decision-making.
• Opportunity to mentor and collaborate across the Executive Officer network.
• Brisbane CBD location with some flexibility to work from home by negotiation.
• Access leave loading and up to 12.75% employer superannuation contributions.
