The Language Technologies Institute (LTI) within the School of Computer Science is seeking a Senior Sponsored Research Administrator to oversee adiversearray of research grant and contract management responsibilities, encompassing fiscal management, compliance, proposal development, and the overall management of grants and contracts. The role involves providing guidance to department faculty members and management regarding sponsored funding, managing multiple grants and contracts from various sources with differing project end dates.

Responsibilities also include interpreting regulations and guidelines for program submission and funding, collaborating with faculty on proposal planning and submission strategies, developing forecasts and budgets, and ensuring effective post-award management. Additionally, this position interfaces with other university departments and sponsoring agencies. The incumbent may also serve as a team lead or supervise a small staff.

Your core responsibilities will include:

May guide less experienced staff or serve as team lead/supervisor.

Provides financial reporting to faculty on various research grants and for various programs and discretionary accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Conducts variance analysis; researches the causes of variances between planned and actual expenses. Works with other areas of the university (Office of Sponsored Projects, Sponsored Projects Accounting, Procurement, etc.) on a regular basis to solve complex problems related to labor allocation, accounting, and related issues.

Establishes accounts in financial systems, re-budgets funds and monitors or modifies awards and expenditures. Completes expense and labor distributions transactions. Approves invoices. Monitors computing and other facility charges

Interprets regulations and guidelines for program funding (both university and agency) for multiple moderately complex grants. Provides monitoring of grants and contracts to ensure expenses are being paid according to contracts. Prepares renewals and reports for sponsoring agencies.

Provides faculty members with various options and scenarios that can be used in a proposal’s planning or during the execution of the work (i.e., assessing labor allocation and distribution across multiple awards, etc.). Develops forecasts, and budgets for faculty members and assists in proposal creation and submission, including the preparation of proposal budgets, often with multiple subcontractors.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree

5-8 years of experience in sponsored research administration

HigherEducationexperience preferred

Comparable knowledge in the form ofeducationand relevant experience may be considered
