About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to own the reliability, scalability, and security of our cloud infrastructure and database platforms. This role combines Cloud Infrastructure, SRE, Networking, and Database Administration (DBA) responsibilities to ensure our mission-critical services—including real-time classrooms—deliver exceptional availability and performance. You will work closely with Engineering teams to build highly automated, observable, and resilient production systems while continuously improving deployment efficiency, operational excellence, and system reliability.
Responsibilities
Cloud Infrastructure & Networking
- Design, operate, and continuously optimize cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
- Manage cloud networking components including VPC, Transit Gateway/Peering, Load Balancers, Route Tables, Security Groups, WAF, CDN, DNS, VPN, and Direct Connect.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues across application, infrastructure, and cloud environments.
Database Administration (DBA)
- Own the lifecycle management of MySQL and/or PostgreSQL databases.
- Perform deep database performance tuning, including execution plans, indexing strategies, query optimization, locking analysis, and slow query troubleshooting.
- Design and maintain high-availability database architectures (Replication, MHA, Patroni, Galera, etc.).
- Manage backup, disaster recovery, Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR), capacity planning, and database lifecycle management.
- Optimize database scalability through partitioning, read/write splitting, and sharding technologies (e.g. ShardingSphere).
Reliability Engineering (SRE)
- Define, measure, and continuously improve Service Level Objectives (SLOs), SLIs, and operational excellence.
- Build and enhance monitoring, logging, tracing, and observability platforms.
- Lead incident response, root cause analysis (RCA), and postmortem reviews to continuously improve platform reliability.
- Drive automation across deployment, operations, and infrastructure management.
Platform Engineering
- Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
- Manage Kubernetes clusters, container networking, autoscaling (HPA), scheduling, and cluster operations.
- Improve system security, access control, disaster recovery, and infrastructure cost optimization (FinOps).
- Collaborate closely with software engineers to improve system architecture, deployment efficiency, and operational resilience.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, DevOps, Systems Engineering, or Database Administration.
- Strong expertise in Linux system administration, kernel tuning, performance troubleshooting, and resource optimization.
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking with hands-on experience in packet capture and network troubleshooting.
- Deep DBA expertise in MySQL and/or PostgreSQL, including: Performance tuning, Execution plan analysis, Index optimization, Lock contention analysis, High availability architecture, Backup & Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) and Capacity planning
- Hands-on experience with database scaling technologies such as replication, sharding, and read/write splitting.
- Strong experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and networking services.
- Production experience managing Kubernetes and Docker environments.
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python, Shell, or Go) with strong automation capabilities.
- Strong ownership, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to perform under production incident scenarios.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting high-concurrency, low-latency systems such as real-time audio/video streaming, live classrooms, or large-scale distributed systems.
- Hands-on experience with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Open Telemetry, or Jaeger.
- Experience with Redis, MongoDB, Kafka, or other distributed data infrastructure.
- Familiarity with multi-region deployment, disaster recovery, chaos engineering, or business continuity planning.
- Experience in Infrastructure Cost Optimization (FinOps).
- Knowledge of service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd) or cloud-native networking.
