Purpose

Collaborate on a cross-disciplinary team to evaluate, improve, optimize, automate, and train job-shop metal and analog electronics manufacturing fabrication processes to reduce costs, improve quality and increase plant capacity. Implement, maintain, and modernize manufacturing equipment, procedures, jigs, tooling, and fabrication processes. Perform root cause failure analysis, experiments, data acquisition, data analysis, and prototyping. Implement innovative manufacturing processes and influence designs using Design for excellence (DfX) and CAD/CAM methodologies. Solicit feedback from operators to identify opportunities for improvements. Design, implement and evangelize manufacturing improvement programs. Research, evaluate and audit recommend suppliers.

Duties

Optimize product quality, reliability, and costs through continuously improving production workflows, equipment layout, manufacturing processes, test methods, workmanship standards and tooling.

Identify opportunities for improving products or reducing costs by implementing or modifying fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, product design, materials, and parts.

Determine root causes of internal and external product failures using inspection, experiments, and statistical methods.

Prepare documentation for Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Purchase Parts Specifications (PPSs), installation manuals, test procedures, etc. in an ERP system according to the applicable quality standards.

Design, implement and train packaging for manufactured products.

Design, install, troubleshoot, maintain, control and train personnel on manufacturing equipment.

Implement computer programs to automate fabrication, testing and measurement machinery.

Implement SQL queries to extract data from an ERP system and analyze statistical data using Microsoft Excel

Collaborate with multiple stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle to optimize manufacturing processes through DfX recommendations, data analysis and prototyping.

Estimate manufacturing labor, time and material costs for new designs.

Investigate or resolve operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks.

Recommend purchasing equipment, materials, or parts.

Prepare and present reports summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing performance.

Supervise technicians, technologists, analysts, administrative staff, or other engineers.

Comply with government regulations and industry standards.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, digesting professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies.

Required

BS in manufacturing or industrial engineering or related discipline from an ABET accredited university.

10 years of experience as a manufacturing engineer in metal fabrication and/or analog electronics

Fluent in LabVIEW (or related), CAD/CAM (SolidWorks preferred), ERP (Syteline preferred), Microsoft Office toolset and computer programming.

Lives the “continuous improvement” philosophy; develops and adopts new ideas and concepts.

Lift up to 50 pounds

Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.
