Summary

The Mizzou Families Office serves as the primary liaison and resource for parents and family members of University of Missouri students. The office provides programs and services designed to inform, educate, and support MU families.

The Mizzou Families Student Communication Assistant works closely with the coordinator to support the daily operations of the office. This role assists with administrative tasks, communication efforts, program and event planning and implementation, promotional needs, and provides general consultation to families regarding campus resources and Mizzou Families events.

Essential Functions

* Use the Campus

ESP communication platform to draft, edit, and schedule communications to families; manage user profiles; and troubleshoot user concerns.

* Support the planning and execution of communication efforts related to key programs, events, and engagement initiatives. Responsibilities include helping craft message content and visuals, coordinating outreach, and ensuring families receive timely and accurate information.

* Examples of supported events include, but are not limited to:

* Summer Welcome table for parents and new students

* Mizzou One-Stop Shop (move-in)

* Family Weekend

* First Day of Class Pictures

* Assist with monitoring and responding to inquiries received through the Mizzou Families resource phone line and email account.

* Conduct research on best practices in parent and family communication to inform office strategies.

* Assist with data collection and assessment related to communication and engagement metrics.

* Represent Mizzou Families at campus events and activities by attending events, promoting services, and engaging with families and campus partners at face-to-face venues associated with the University of Missouri.

* Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Anticipated Hiring Range

$15.25 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis.

Shift

Average hours per week: 5-10.

Shifts will primarily be between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday – Friday.

This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

To be eligible for a student title, an individual must be enrolled at the University of Missouri. Enrollment in the summer session is not required if the student was enrolled in the Spring semester and is pre-enrolled for the Fall semester. Selection is contingent upon results of a review with the Office of Institutional Equity, Office of Student Accountability & Support, Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, previous MU appointment history, and reference checks.

Be a Federal Work-Study-eligible student.

Preferred Qualifications

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

* Demonstrated computer literacy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher) and familiarity with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter).

* Ability to work independently and remain flexible when prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities.

* Strong organizational and time-management skills.

* Customer service, event planning, and/or marketing experience preferred.
