The Mechanical Engineering department leads in the mechanical hardware design, development, and production of weapons systems. We use state-of-the-art tools, processes, and technology, with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines, including product engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials engineering, analysis and test, rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Writer/Document Controller II – TMIT & RFSI Materials and Process Engineering to join our team.

This position supports the McKinney, TX facility – remote role.

As the Technical Writer/Document Controller II, you will be the primary point of contact for all assembly instruction documentation for production programs, depot & sustainment efforts, as well as some developmental tasks. You will also create and update production routers and data collection functions.

In this role you will work with Process Engineers and other Engineering disciplines to produce cutting edge military and Defense related hardware. As a Technical Writer, you will help create and update assembly instructions and other process documents. You will manage the approval and publication process. This role will not only allow you to work side by side with some of our best and brightest, but also gain the experience and exposure necessary to advance your career.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Responsible for creating and releasing process documentation, including assembly instructions and production and depot routers. Performing drawing reviews and incorporating all requirements into the process documents.

Project management (planning, collaborating, and reporting).

Assist the production floor with issues related to documentation access.

Interface with various functions including Quality, Reliability, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Manufacturing, and Operations Engineering.

Willingness to learn assembly processes and to develop an understanding of the products and equipment.

Required Qualifications:

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant experience, or in the absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.

Experience in Microsoft Word.

Experience in technical writing with proper English grammar.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience with reading and interpreting engineering drawings.

Experience with Adobe Acrobat.

Ability to communicate and collaborate with Factory, Managers, and Engineering.

Experience with Common Manufacturing Enterprise System (CMES) factory operating system.

Certified Assembly Instruction Originator.

SAP (PRISM) experience.

Proficient in creating and releasing documents in cPDM.
