Your Opportunity
The Technical Writer / Editor is responsible for transforming complex, technical content into clear, accurate, and audience‑appropriate documentation. This role ensures consistency, usability, and compliance with established standards while actively supporting authors in producing high‑quality deliverables. The incumbent will operate within a quality‑driven environment, contributing to continuous improvement in documentation processes and standards.

Key Responsibilities Technical Editing and Writing
- Edit and refine technical documents to ensure clarity, logical flow, and alignment with the intended audience (e.g., internal stakeholders, clients, regulatory bodies).
- Perform multi‑level editing, including proofreading, copy editing, and substantive editing.
- Rework and rewrite sections of documentation as required to improve readability and coherence without altering technical intent.
Standards and Style Compliance
- Apply and enforce client styles and style guides.
- Ensure strict consistency across terminology, formatting, headings, numbering, references, and document structure.
- Identify and resolve inconsistencies in voice, tone, and technical nomenclature across deliverables.
Document Development and Templates
- Design, develop, and maintain standardized templates for internal and external documentation.
- Ensure templates are optimized for usability, accessibility, and efficiency across teams.
- Support document lifecycle management, including version control, revision tracking, and archival practices.
Quality Assurance and Control
- Implement quality assurance checks at each stage of the document lifecycle.
- Perform final reviews to confirm completeness, accuracy, formatting integrity, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Maintain traceability and documentation of revisions, approvals, and final outputs.
Collaboration and Author Support
- Work directly with technical authors (primarily engineers and subject matter experts) to improve content clarity and structure.
- Provide constructive, actionable feedback that enhances writing quality and technical communication skills.
- Facilitate content refinement discussions, ensuring alignment between technical accuracy and audience comprehension.
- Serve as a quality advisor by identifying gaps, ambiguities, or risks in documentation.
Document Management and Control
- Assist with document control processes, including file organization, metadata management, and controlled distribution.
- Ensure proper handling of confidential and sensitive information in accordance with organizational policies.
- Maintain document integrity through systematic tracking of revisions and approvals.
Multi‑Channel Content Editing
- Edit and adapt content for multiple formats and outputs, including technical reports, manuals and procedures, training materials, presentations, and visual documentation.
- Apply visual communication principles to enhance document readability and engagement.
Your Capabilities and Credentials Technical Expertise
- Demonstrated experience in technical writing and/or editing within a professional, engineering, or technically complex environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word (including styles, templates, and advanced formatting), Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro (for markup, review, and PDF optimization).
- Experience with document design tools (e.g., Visio or equivalent) considered an asset.
Communication and Editing Skills
- Exceptional command of written English, with the ability to adapt tone and style for diverse audiences.
- Strong ability to interpret technical content and translate it into clear, structured documentation.
- Capacity to identify and resolve ambiguity, redundancy, and inconsistency in complex materials.
- French language proficiency is an asset.
Analytical and Editorial Judgment
- Ability to independently assess the appropriate level of editing required (proofreading vs. substantive editing).
- Strong editorial judgment when balancing technical accuracy with readability and clarity.
- Ability to prioritize edits based on audience needs, document purpose, and project constraints.
