Temporary IT Administrative Assistant
This position contributes directly to this support function by providing both administrative and technical assistance focused on IT hardware asset management, data tracking, documentation, and departmental coordination. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and comfort working in a fast‑paced, technology‑focused environment that ultimately supports the department’s ability to deliver safe, reliable water services to the community.

The Technology Application Group provides essential IT hardware support, asset tracking, and technical coordination for Raleigh Water. Responsibilities
- Manage the full lifecycle of IT hardware assets, including procurement, deployment, tracking, maintenance, and disposal
- Prepare and maintain asset management reports, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, and related documentation
- Coordinate meetings, events, and departmental activities, including scheduling, communication, logistics, and facility arrangements
- Support budget development and monitoring related to IT hardware assets; assist with financial transactions and performance measures
- Draft, edit, and format correspondence, reports, presentations, and confidential materials
- Maintain organized digital and physical file systems; perform data entry in spreadsheets, databases, and department‑specific software
- Assist with special projects by researching issues, preparing documents, summarizing data, and coordinating with other departments
- Travel to multiple Raleigh Water locations throughout the week using a City vehicle
Education and Experience
High school degree or GED required and three years of clerical/office support experience.
Any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (4‑year) preferred
- Five (5) years of relevant government or business experience
- Intermediate proficiency with financial/accounting systems, database tools, spreadsheets, and word processing software
Licensing and Certifications
- Valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
Knowledge of
- IT hardware asset management processes and best practices
- Strong skills in spreadsheet, database, and document creation
- Excellent organizational, communication, and time‑management abilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Ability to coordinate tasks, support special projects, and work independently within established procedures

Work Environment and Physical Effort:
Sedentary. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, frequently, or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in an office or similar indoor environment.
Work Exposures:
Work in this position does not require frequent environmental exposures. Employees may occasionally be exposed to individuals who are hostile or irate.
