:
Unit Secretary, Full-Time, days, 12-hour shift. Benefitted position.
Position Summary
:
Performs general clerical duties on the Acute nursing unit; answers phones, relays messages to patients, maintains patient’s records, orders supplies and generally assists nursing and medical staff with multiple clerical duties. The Unit Secretary is the entry point for hospital public relations. The Unit Secretary makes the first impression for the hospital and sets the tone by being friendly, welcoming, and a calming influence to patients and their families.
The Unit Secretary also performs some or all of the admission/clerical/reception duties for the following departments:
Acute Nursing Department
Emergency Department
Outpatient after hours registration
Duties may be assigned by other departments with the approval of the Lead Unit Secretary and/or Chief Nursing Officer.
Requirements
Education
:
High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of medical terminology course preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
:
Current CPR certification.
Experience
:
Medical office work or prior hospital experience preferred.
Job Knowledge
:
General office, clerical, computer and positive public relations skills required.
Skills
:
Strong computer skills required. Ability to perform calmly and in a helpful manner in stressful situations. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
