Per Diem Unit Secretary
Butler Hospital is seeking Per Diem Unit Secretaries for our Partial Hospital and Intensive Outpatient Programs (ambulatory programs).
Responsibilities:
Providing coverage for regularly staffed unit secretaries.
Observing hospital and departmental policies, guiding principles, rules, and regulations.
Maintaining patient charts and electronic medical records for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Working within electronic systems to ensure labs and other communications/orders are managed promptly.
Reporting needed repairs to related services.
Making emergency phone calls as directed.
Answering telephones and relaying messages.
Adhering to Butler Hospital’s service standards.
In IOP programs, maintaining physician appointment schedules.
Managing unit census/daily attendance and reporting attendance numbers daily.
Maintaining supply orders for the designated unit.
Ensuring supply of all necessary forms, packets, and patient folders.
Taking meeting minutes and distributing them to staff.
Maintaining current staff lists, directories, and office keys.
Managing incoming faxes.
Performing various clerical duties, including data entry, mailing patient information, and calling patients, as needed.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent, including courses in English, typing, spelling, and arithmetic.
Training and
Experience:
On-the-job training in hospital practices and medical terminology. Clerical or similar work experience is required. Ability to perform under stress in a busy environment.
