Job Summary

Under general supervision, this position administers membership and salary eligibility for the PERA Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution plans. This position resolves both routine and complex situations, and provides guidance to school districts, local units of government, and other entities of actions needed to ensure compliance with program and reporting criteria. This position also collects, analyzes and organizes program activity data.

This position is approved for telework after an approximate three (3) month initial in-office training period. Once new hire training is completed, this position has the option to telework most days of the week. PERA’s office is located in St. Paul, MN.

Only candidates located in Minnesota and bordering states (Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, or Wisconsin) are telework eligible.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

One and one-half (1.5) years of technical, para-professional or professional experience OR A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance and six (6) months of technical, para-professional or professional experience

Education and experience must clearly demonstrate:

Ability to review inquires or requests and gather pertinent information and data from stakeholders
Ability to apply existing policies, procedures, and statutes to information and data in order to make a determination.
Ability to document and support determinations made by applying existing policies, procedures, and statutes to collected information and data.
Ability to perform and/or review math computations and determinations related to financial obligations, compound interest, and refunds due for technical accuracy
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook sufficient to create correspondence, reports, spreadsheets and status reports for supervisor, peers, stakeholders and other governmental organizations
Strong planning, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks, self-direct and function in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of public pension plans
Experience responding verbally or in writing to external stakeholder questions about complex benefit programs such as retirement, insurance, healthcare, public assistance, Social Security or Medicare
Experience administering policies, procedures, and systems to make benefit eligibility determinations
Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of movement is often necessary in carrying out job duties.
