As an Insurance Verification, you will be responsible for verifying patients’ dental insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility. Your primary duties include contacting insurance providers, confirming coverage details, updating patient records, and assisting with any insurance-related inquiries. You will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate billing, minimizing claim denials, and supporting a seamless patient experience.

Responsibilities:

Verify patients’ dental insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility before appointments.

Contact insurance providers to confirm coverage details, including deductibles, co-pays, and annual maximums.

Accurately update and maintain patient insurance information in the dental practice management system.

Process insurance claims, coordinate with providers, and follow up on outstanding claims or denials.

Assist patients with insurance-related inquiries, explaining coverage details and financial responsibilities.

Calculate and collect co-pays, deductibles, and other out-of-pocket expenses.

Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations when handling patient information.

Work closely with front desk staff to confirm insurance details before scheduling appointments.

Communicate effectively with dental staff regarding patient coverage, pre-authorizations, and billing concerns.

Maintain organized records of insurance verifications and claims processing.

Follow up with patients regarding any insurance-related issues that may affect their treatment.

Support a seamless patient experience by ensuring all insurance details are verified in advance.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in healthcare administration or related field is a plus.

Proven experience as a receptionist or in a customer service role, preferably in a dental or healthcare setting.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact with patients, colleagues, and third-party stakeholders.

Proficient in using dental practice management software and general office applications (e.g., MS Office, email, appointment scheduling systems).

Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining patient records and managing financial transactions.

Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and insurance processes is desirable.
