About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President for Government Relations andCommunity Engagementto champion its strategic interests at both federal and local levels of governance. This role involves leading and coordinating the University’s interactions with the Federal Government, the District of Columbia government, and other relevant entities in the Washington metropolitan area. The successful candidate will also be responsible for fostering and managing the University’s relationships with local neighborhood residents, community stakeholders, and highereducationadvocacygroups.
This position is pivotal in advancing the institution’s mission of intellectual inquiry and social justice, and requires a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s or professional degree preferred), 7 to 10 years of related experience, and aproven track recordof engaging with elected officials and community leaders.
The ideal candidate for the Vice President for Government Relations andCommunity Engagementrole at the company will possess outstanding analytical,leadership, and interpersonal skills. They must be adept at articulating positions persuasively and have a solutions-oriented mindset forproblem-solving. Experience in coordinating responses to a variety of political and policy issues, as well as the ability to advise on strategies for dialogue with government and community leaders, is essential.
The role demands a professional who can work effectively in adiverseand complex environment, and who is capable of building long-termcollaborativerelationships to support the University’s strategic goals. The candidate should be prepared to interact at the highest levels of government and with various university departments, and to be a key member of theleadershipteam in the Office of the COO.
