Mō te tūnga | About the role

Do you want to make a difference to New Zealand's tamariki, rangatahi, whānau and communities within Central Otago and Queenstown Lakes. Come and join our great, supportive, and fun team and grow your administration experience to new heights with our team as we provide statutory care and protection services.

Be responsible for administration needs of Social Work kaimahi including but not limited the following:

  • assistance with the creation of financial plans, purchase orders, timesheet collation, data collection, minute-taking and scheduling of appointments and other hui for social workers, the FGC Coordinator and other kaimahi
  • Taking an active role in supporting the Site Manager to fulfil our Health, Safety and Security functions and responsibilities
  • Liaise with vendors, fleet car manager, our pool of casual resource workers, and other community stakeholders
  • Work with a broad range of kaimahi and members of the public who come from diverse backgrounds delivering exceptional customer service
  • Scheduling meetings and venue hire, answering phones, maintain the fleet car booking calendar, create rosters, undertake document filing both in hard and electronic copy, dealing with couriers, ordering catering, stationary supplies, and assisting on the reception desk
  • Organising welcomes/whakatau for newcomers and whānau as and when required
  • Deal with challenging scenarios in a calm, professional manner.

Ngā pūmanawatanga ōu | What you will bring

Key requirements of the role include:

  • Full clean New Zealand drivers’ licence is required
  • Support the team with all aspects of Health, Safety and Security
  • Have strong computer skills and IT knowledge – be familiar with Outlook, Calendar, Mail, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and demonstrate a genuine commitment to ongoing learning and development
  • A range of Administration skills such as typing, reporting, responding to site needs, document formatting, multi-tasking and supporting other Workplace Administrators across the Lower South when necessary
  • Cultural awareness and an understanding of Tikanga Māori principles, and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to be flexible and agile
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt to your audience.

Oranga Tamariki offer a step-based remuneration package, that offers progression annually for experience through tenure. Annual remuneration for this position starts between $57,096 and $62,773 dependant on experience.
