Under supervision performs a variety of responsible technical, clerical, and administrative duties for the Animal Control Department. As department’s receptionist, work requires knowledge of the department’s services, policies and procedures and ability to communicate these to others. Requires sound judgment, personal initiative, attention to detail and discretion in completing assignments. Employee must exercise considerable tact and courtesy in dealing with the public and internal customers

Reports to Chief Animal Control Officer.

Job Highlights

Answers telephone and greets visitors.
Operates a two-way radio to receive and transmit messages.
Performs bookkeeping duties for the department; reviews invoices and receipts for discrepancies.
Establishes and maintains a variety of files, records and directories/databases.
Maintains internet website for Animal Control; edits content and layout; organizes and uploads content.
Serves as designated records manager for department.
Composes, types, copies and assembles correspondence, memos, forms, advertisements, monthly operations reports, financial reports, etc.
Schedules and coordinates meetings, conferences, and training; makes travel arrangements for department personnel.
Assists with setup, intake, operations and shut down of Emergency Animal Shelter when activated.
Assists in the daily operation of the animal shelter, impounding animals brought in and returning owned animals.
Performs other related work as required or assigned.

Qualifications

High school graduate or GED, supplemented by post-secondary coursework in office administration or related field.
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience, preferably in a customer service and administrative support role.
Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
