DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manages and coordinates all scheduling, meetings, and travel for the Public Information Office.

Responds to high call intake and citizen requests for public information and complaints through correspondence and statistical reporting to ensure statutory compliance.

Composes correspondence, directives, speeches, department quarterly newsletter, etc., prepares drafts on various departmental matters and edits material as required.

Prepares budget, analyzes, coordinates, and manages expenditures for all specialized Public Information Office/Outreach activities and events including brochures, visual presentations, etc.

Assists support staff with logistics, interpretation, implementation and compliance with the Public Information Office directives, department policies and procedures, and training protocol.

Participates in special projects and event planning as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort in a normal office environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts or a related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Three years of administrative experience are required.

Professional administrative experience may be substituted for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis.

None

PREFERENCES

Preferences shall be given to candidates that have strong verbal, written and analytical skills as well as have the ability to travel to off-site locations. The ideal candidate will have the ability to interact well with all levels of staff and management.

**Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6. **

Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate’s qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
