The department is governed by the Kansas State Board of Education, but the day-to-day administration of the agency is the responsibility of the Commissioner of Education, who is appointed by the Board of Education.

Position Summary & Responsibilities: This position functions as the agency recruiter and agency receptionist. This position acts as backup to the Human Resources Professional for time and labor/payroll duties; and provides administrative support for the Human Resources team, the Professional Practices Commission (PPC) and the Recognition Programs administrator. This position also updates position descriptions and organization charts for all KSDE teams.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Two years of experience in general office, clerical and administrative support work. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Skills and/or Qualifications:
Ability to communicate in a concise and effective manner, both verbally and in writing;
Ability to work independently;
Knowledge and understanding of working in a confidential environment;
Proficient with Microsoft office suite;
Possesses an attention to detail;
Takes initiative; and
Works well with a variety of personalities.
Preferred Experience: Experience working in a state agency’s Human Resources office.
