JOB SUMMARY
Provides administrative and strategic support to help complete program deliverables, student enrollment and retention, marketing, and academic success. Exercises discretion when collecting, compiling, and analyzing complex information requests. Drafts and prepares correspondence and reports for directors’ review. Coordinates meetings/agendas and budgeting for events, retreats, conferences, and workshops.
Manages special projects and/or functions such as postings on social media, scheduling interviews and reference checks, coordinating scholarship information, special events, curriculum updates, cohort listings, and marketing/communication outreach, etc. Addresses and/or directs student and faculty concerns appropriately. Updates Student Support and other Canvas and MU website sites.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides administrative and strategic support through both routine work and situation-based problem solving, such as tracking school budget and expenses, organizing student files/cohort listings, marketing/communication. Develops and maintains databases and confidentiality of student and faculty data.
Provides day-to-day support to the School of Education such as greeting visitors, maintaining calendars, regularly communicating with students, faculty, and stakeholders. Provides information regarding the university and procedures, responding to phone calls and email queries, completing faculty spend authoriziations, drafting correspondence for directors’ approval, ordering supplies and monitoring usage, and organizing special events.
Develops requisitions, interviews, hires, trains, and oversees all student workers and the hiring process for graduate assistants.
Leads special projects and functions as assigned.
OTHER DUTIES AND ASSIGNMENTS
Collects, reviews and updates faculty syllabi and office hours each semester.
Orders textbooks and submits all textbook orders to bookstore.
Keeps track of and uploads all licensure exam scores for students in support of Virginia teaching licensing and accreditation requirements.
Creates and distributes marketing flyers, brochures, and materials to support graduate (Masters and Doctoral) and undergraduate programs.
Develops weekly educational content and student/faculty/alumni spotlights for LinkedIn and other social media sites.
Supports and trains staff in the Early Learning Academy as needed.
Collaborates and assists faculty with the planning and implementation of all School events, i.e. Hooding, Homecoming, Commencement, accreditation visits, etc.
Takes on the role of “point person” for all IT issues for the faculty/staff.
Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education
Must hold a bachelor’s degree (BA, BS, etc.) in education or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Experience
3 to 5 years of related experience supporting senior level management, preferably in an academic environment.

Financial Responsibility
Processes and records financial transactions within established guidelines and safeguards. Duties may require policy interpretation and budget monitoring.
Supervision
May supervise and/or provide guidance to others regarding procedures, scheduling, etc.
Special Knowledge
Microsoft Office to include proficient skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Drive, Canvas, and Canva. Effective communications and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage projects, support faculty professional development and training, and daily operations with limited supervision. Strong database management and organizational skills.
