Recruitment Range: $27,373 – $37,150

The North Carolina Department of Military and Veterans Affairs is seeking an Administrative Associate II for our State Service Center located in Winston-Salem, NC. This position performs a variety of tasks in support of the Veterans’ Service Center. This position composes/formats letters, reports, and records; and establishes paper and electronic files for said correspondence. Processes mail for the assigned veteran’s service center. Duties include using a computer to type reports, and spreadsheets, and develop and maintain data reports. The position will use the internet for research and to update NC DMVA’s data web-based programs. Work requires knowledge and use of office equipment – fax machine, copier, scanner, computer, and shredder. Daily use of Microsoft Office is required. Work also includes daily public contact via in-person, telephone, and email. The employee in this role must be an independent worker capable of making routine decisions and referrals without supervision

A normal 40 hours work week (M-F, 8am-5pm) is associated with the position; however, workdays will vary- and may include some weekend, after hours and holiday work to allow for Veterans outreach programs, conferences and training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies

Working knowledge of program services, policies, and procedures
Ability to explain and interpret program information to clients/customers and staff
Working knowledge of data collection and storage to compile, assimilate, and organize printed and electronic information
Working knowledge of and ability to use correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and specialized vocabulary
Ability to present ideas in written form; ability to adjust language or terminology to meet needs of the recipient(s); ability to use correct grammar, organization, and structure
Ability to utilize office equipment and other technology (software and systems) to meet work needs
Ability to facilitate workflow processes and coordinate office support activities with other staff; ability to maintain internal and external contacts for work coordination.
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of administrative experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
