****Applicants seeking short-term or part-time work with the University Hawai’i may apply for Casual Hire positions, which include administrative, professional, and technical (APT) or instructional-type positions. Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular BOR and Civil Service employees such as paid leave and holidays. Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full-time employees, and up to 1 calendar year for part-time employees.

Permanent/Temporary: Temporary, Not to exceed 89 days (40 hrs/week)
Other Conditions: To begin approximately April 2025 for up to 89 days, but may end sooner, dependent on availability of funding and program need. Must be available to work during office business hours M-F, 7:45am to 4:30pm.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide administrative support to the School of Communication and Information (SCI) and the SCI Chair.
Assist with departmental human resources and fiscal processes.
Assist with departmental inquiries on human resources and fiscal matters.
Manage scholarship programs of the SCI; monitor availability of funds, publicize available awards and winners, coordinate review of applications, ensure delivery of awards, and update donors about scholarships awarded.
Process purchasing and payment for UHF accounts including managing various scholarship, fellowship, student awards, mentorship award, and research grants through UHF.
Manage and support the SCI office operations.
Assist with the coordination of the SCI events and activities.
Maintain SCI files and records management.
Serve as department liaison to other departments and entities.
Assist the SCI Chair with academic responsibilities including textbook orders and coordination with bookstore to order textbooks each semester.
Assist the SCI Chair with special projects aligned with college- and university-wide program mission or objectives.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in business administration, accounting, communication or related field and 0 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for administrative support; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software and spreadsheet software.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organization, groups, team leaders and members and individuals.
Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve problems that may commonly occur in the office management and/or administrative support functions.
Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
Desirable Qualifications
Experience in providing administrative support in a higher education setting.
Familiarity with UH, RCUH, and UHF fiscal and personnel policies and procedures.
