DEPARTMENT DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Houston Water is a team of approximately 1,500 drinking water and wastewater professionals, including but not limited to operators, mechanics, engineers, scientists, planners, regulatory and business personnel. The City of Houston Water and Wastewater Utility is a regulated public health agency governed by federal and state laws. Our staff maintains professional licenses issued by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality and other public health agencies.

We are looking for an energetic, flexible, self-motivated individual who will function in an Administrative Coordinator role to provide analytical support within Drinking Water Operations (DWO) Branch of Houston Water service line. The ideal candidate has experience working in and thriving in a fast-paced and high-volume business operations environment.

Essential duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

Implementation of administrative and supervisory activities of the assigned department/divisions, such as: Surface Water (SW) & Groundwater (GW) operations and maintenance team members (approximately 250 employees).

Prepares, edits, and revises department/division correspondence prepares, edits and revises procedures manuals.

Oversee/track occupational licenses to ensure regulatory compliance is maintained.

May coordinate the planning, research, presentation, promotion, and evaluation of special programs such as grants.

Manage the telecommunications program for SW & GW.

Researches, analyzes, and reviews new vendors, equipment, services, and regulations.

Researching and recommending operational improvements and implementation.

Ensuring accuracy of deliverables, and providing guidance, training, and coaching to the direct reports.

May coordinate division/departmental financial operations, including budget planning, integration and oversight, project cost analysis, expenditure control and accounting procedures.

Other special projects as assigned.
