What you will be doing:

This position is responsible for the overall operations of administrative functions for the Division of Administrative Services to include budget management, accounting, human resources, supply and procurement, and other support services. This position also supervises an Administrative Assistant, provides technical guidance and advice to the Division Supervisor and Section Chiefs regarding all administrative matters (payroll, expenditures, procurement, budget projections).

Our office is located in the Douglas Island Building with ample parking and short walk to Savikko Park, Sandy Beach, and the Treadwell Mine Historic Trail. The work environment is collaborative and customer service oriented. Our team works as a tight knit group that values each other’s contributions. This position will interface daily with a variety of people, including staff, field offices, other managers, directors, and other executives.

Who we are looking for:

To be successful in the position, the selected candidate will need the following core competencies:

Working knowledge of administrative processes necessary to support the operations of a business, such as financial monitoring, accounts payable/receivable, personnel, and purchasing and inventory.

Ability to analyze complex issues accurately, and take prompt, appropriate action.

Ability to work effectively with senior management, adapt to changing priorities, and work on multiple projects with overlapping or conflicting schedules.

Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to exercise sound judgment in a wide variety of situations.

Skill in organizing workloads, setting priorities, and coordinating concurrent timelines/schedules.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in

Administration and Management: Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production.

Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.

Financial Management: Prepares, justifies, and/or administers the budget for program areas; plans, administers, and monitors expenditures to ensure cost-effective support of programs and policies; assesses financial condition of an organization….
