Summary

Under direct supervision, is responsible for providing clerical and administrative support to the department or office; assists in general office work; and performs related duties as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

Answers telephone and routes calls to employees.
Processes incoming and outgoing mail.
Drafting routine correspondence such as letters, memos and reports.
Files and maintain records, agreements or purchase orders.
Delivers and retrieves documents from County offices.
Provides administrative assistance to department staff.
May obtain authorization signatures for documents such as purchase requisitions.
Performs related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from High School or General Education Development(GED) certificate, and one (1) year general office and administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of basic office procedures; good knowledge of word processing.
Skill in filing and organization of material; skill in operating a personal computer, typewriter and basic office equipment.
Ability to understand and follow instructions; ability to maintain records; ability to communicate with diverse groups of individuals utilizing tact; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees and the public
Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
Physical requirements include carrying/lifting 5-10lbs. occasionally; visual acuity, speech and hearing; hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate computer keyboard, typewriter and basic office equipment. Subject to walking, sitting, standing, bending, reaching and twisting to perform the essential functions.
Working conditions are primarily in an office environment
