The K-12AdvocacyCoordinator will be expected to contribute high-level work product as if they were a seasoned program assistant as well as general administrative support. The UNCF K-12AdvocacyCoordinator will be a generalist and expected to shift focus from several internal and external activities, including, but not limited to overseeing daily operations, monitoring and approving program expenditures, strategy review and realignment to participating in creating reports based on new research and data.

The UNCFAdvocacyTeam will offer a rewarding experience for a K-12AdvocacyCoordinator. The ideal candidate will not only have a passion foreducation, but for program development and event management.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Assist in tracking finance, budget and accounting processes.

Monitor changes and news in the K-16 landscape nationally and in targeted cities to maintain a pulse on the relevant issues and the implications for UNCF’sadvocacystrategy and target city involvement.

Assist in identifying and recommending opportunities for UNCF to demonstrateleadershipon African-American K-16 educational issues.

Schedule and coordinate meetings and events.

Update and manage an accurate, neat, orderly filing system from which files can be easily retrieved; update and maintain records on an ongoing basis.

Coordinate internal meeting arrangements, including schedule conference rooms, set up refreshments; assemble necessary background material for scheduled meetings.

Prepare and handle routine correspondence, including confidential matters.

Attend meetings and take clear and concise minutes.

Assist and provide support with developing social media content and coverage for localeducationevents (Twitter and Facebook posts, blogs, etc.).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university preferred; least two to four years of experience in K-12educationreform organizations and/or activities desired.

Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks/projects.

Strong oral and writtencommunication skills.

Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment withrespectto prioritization of and recommendations on appointments.

Strong organizational skills.

Thoroughness and carefulattention to detail.

Temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, pleasant, and professional manner and works well under pressure and handles stress.
