Job Title: Residential Construction Administrative Assistant

Harry Braswell, Inc. has been a leading historic restoration and renovation company in Alexandria, VA for over 40 years. We have several divisions: Residential/Commercial General Contracting, Design-Build, Concierge Home Services (handyman), The Gentleman Plumber, and DMV Foundation Solutions (excavation/waterproofing). We have 45 employees including both office and field personnel.

Position Summary

The objective of this role is to provide administrative support for the office and field personnel for the different divisions. We need someone who has strong organization, computer, and verbal and written communication skills to help the divisions run as efficiently as possible.

Personality Characteristics

We’re looking for a self-starter who can manage their time effectively. The role requires drive and a sense of accountability because the day-to-day working environment will involve little direct supervision. Dependability is also key; we need someone who can reliably work 8 hour days in the office Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

Check voicemail and answer calls, emails from clients
Data entry of new clients and projects
Take new project requests and schedule estimates
Facilitate communication between office and field and clients
Establish good rapport with clients – be someone they can depend on for assistance
Help organize projects and ensure paperwork is complete
Assist with tracking spending, budgets, and invoicing projects
Assist with ordering project materials
Overall organization of daily operations
Anticipate issues and problem solve
Assist Project Managers with whatever else is needed

Qualifications

College or other advanced degree
Previous office/administrative experience
Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel
Ability to learn division specific software
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Flexibility to accommodate a range of activities
Self-motivated, proactive, organized and dependable
Capable of managing multiple competing priorities
Construction or service company experience of any kind (helpful but not necessary)
Bookkeeping experience is helpful but not required

Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience
Full benefits for full time
