Position: Clerk to Local Governing Boards (Cavendish Education Trust)

CLERK TO LOCAL GOVERNING BOARDS

Hours of work: 6 Hours per week (part‑time). Working pattern:
Part‑time. Salary:
Single Status Grade 7, Points 18–19 (£28,720–£29,398 pro‑rate). Annualised hours: 270 hours a year; total paid hours: 311 hours including holiday pay.
Actual salary: £4,636 – £4,746

Responsibilities

Supporting the two Trust’s Local Governing Boards (Cavendish School & Stafford/Roselands schools), you will provide independent advice, guidance and support on governance, constitutional and procedural matters. You will act as the clerk to both Boards, making meeting arrangements, producing accurate minutes and advising the Boards. The role requires flexible working; meetings may be in the late afternoon or evening and will be scheduled in advance with reasonable notice.

Qualifications

  • Excellent experience of minute‑taking and highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage your own time, balancing a variety of responsibilities and prioritising tasks.
  • Good ICT skills (IT equipment will be provided).
  • Previous clerking experience is desirable but not essential; you must have the skills to effectively manage information in accordance with legal requirements.

Enhanced DBS checks will be required. All staff must hold or obtain an enhanced DBS check or Enhanced Check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services.
