Position: Clerk V – Norfolk
Duties: The non-negotiable annual salary for this position is $54,142.66 (NAGE Unit 1, Grade 15, Step
1).
The Clerk V will be responsible for the supervision of the Clerk IV. Responsibilities include performing general clerical duties such as data entry into the inmate management system (IMS), filing and organizing the incarcerated individuals’ six-part folders/mitts, answering telephones, and responding to general inquiries. The Clerk V will accurately communicate with courts and retrieve court documents pertaining to incarcerated individuals, schedule trips for court, medical, transfer, and/or emergency release, and coordinate transportation as required.
Additionally, the Clerk V will issue/review monthly deduction form sentence sheets and conduct audits on six-part folders/mitts on a monthly basis, complete C.O.R.I requests as needed, and perform other duties as assigned.

Excellent organizational skills.
Experience in office supervision, procedures, and practices.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Ability to delegate a large workload to staff.
Ability to manage a large office environment.
Working knowledge of the DOC Rules and Regulations.
Ability to understand legal terminology.
Ability to prioritize workload.
Knowledge of operations of other departments in the institution through training programs and interrelated activities.
Minimum Requirements: Applicants must have at least (A) four years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in office work, of which (B) at least one year must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity, or (C) an equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below:
A diploma as evidence of graduation from the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
A diploma as evidence of graduation from a course other than the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school or possession of a Massachusetts high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for a maximum of eight months of the required experience.
A diploma for completion of a one-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.
A diploma for completion of a two-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for two years of the required experience.
