The Labor Studies Manager will develop management strategies and prioritize workflow, with problem solving solutions that meet the department goals and objectives. The Labor Studies Manager will interpret policies and procedures to meet operational goals with minimal supervision. Maintaining cultural sensitivity, staying up-to-date on labor issues, non-profit landscape in LA, practicing agility and flexibility are key aspects of this role. The Labor Studies Manager will develop, manage, and assess academic and student engagement initiatives for the Labor Studies IDP. The Labor Studies Manager will participate in strategic planning for the curriculum and execution of the undergraduate major and minor. The incumbent will confer and assist the department chair with academic personnel policies. Establish efficient procedures and workflows to ensure consistent service delivery to students, staff, and faculty, and assess new technologies to improve support services. The Labor Studies Manager will develop and manage the internship program by fostering community partnerships, and alumni engagement. The Labor Studies Manager is responsible for the management of Unit 18 faculty, Academic Administrators, Grad TAs, Undergraduate Students, 11 academic student employees, and 200+ undergraduate students, serving as the liaison of the larger campus community, educating faculty, staff and students. The Labor Studies Manager will supervise two staff members, assume accountability for decisions made by subordinates, providing work assignments and performance evaluations. Performing analyzation and implementing structure, managing complex university policy, advising the Labor Studies Chair and department committee members. Will provide long and short-term curriculum planning.
Salary & Compensation: *UCLA provides a full pay range. Public Speaking Effectively engage and communicate with a large number of people. (Required)
Student Affairs Experience in working with students in a university setting. (Required)
Policy and Procedures Experience and working knowledge of UC Student Affairs policy and procedures. (Preferred)
Communication Experience in writing concise logical, and grammatically correct business correspondence and procedures. (Required)
Interpersonal skills to interact sensitively and to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, students, alumni, community members, workers, and outside organization officials and staff from diverse social, cultural, and educational backgrounds. (Required)
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative team working relationships with supervisees, other staff, the university, and the community. – Required (Required)

Skill in maintaining a system of documentation, materials, correspondence, budgets, and other files. (Required)
Working knowledge of university and School rules, regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to student affairs and academic programs. (Preferred)
Working knowledge of Academic Personnel policies, software applications (OPUS, UC Recruit, and Interfolio), and procedures at the UC, UCLA, and College levels. (Preferred)
Ability to use web-based documentation of official Academic Personnel policy and procedure, including the UC APM, UCLA CALL, and College Handbook. (Required)
Education, Licenses, Certifications, & Professional Affiliations:
Bachelor’s Degree In related area and/or equivalent experience / training (Required)
