This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department’s business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures. Although the duties of this position can be performed primarily remote, the position does require the incumbent to participate in field collections work, as needed.
Job Summary:
The Deputy Administrator, Business Collections, is responsible for providingleadership, strategic initiative, and management the entire Business Collections Unit, which is responsible for the collection of delinquent tax liabilities on behalf of the Department of Revenue. This role is responsible for submitting collections cases to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office and for representing the department in settlement issues, and will also serve in place of the Deputy Assistant Director, as needed.

Job Requirements:
Education & Experience
Any combination that meets the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA); typical ways KSAs are obtained may include but are not limited to: a relevant degree from an accredited college or university such as Bachelor’s Degree (e.g., B.A.), training, coursework, and work experience relevant to the assignment.
Minimum of seven years’ tax collection experience
Minimum of three years management/supervisory experience
Licenses & Certifications
Valid Arizona Driver’s License
Knowledge/Understanding
Advanced knowledge and understanding of Federal and State tax statutes, administrative rules, and regulations
Advanced knowledge and understanding of tax collection enforcement rules and regulations
Advanced knowledge of lien laws pertaining to personal and real property for consensual liens and statutory liens from agencies such as the IRS
Knowledge of investigative and research techniques
Knowledge of tax filing requirements and supporting documentation necessary to process tax returns
Skills
Strong communications skills, to include verbal, written, andactive listeningwith the ability to convey tax-related information in layman’s terms
Strong organization and time management skills with the ability to make measurable progress on multiple priorities
Strong interpersonal skills and demeanor
Strong negotiation and persuasion skills
Proficient in the use of a PC/laptop in a Windows environment; in the use of the Internet; and in the use of Google Suite applications such as Gmail, Sheets, Docs, and Drive
