ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Processes court filings including case information, motions, citations, judicial orders, journal entries, and updates the public docket with relevant information.
- Answers telephones, gives general and case-related information in response to public inquiries, handles requests for information, schedules court hearings, pretrials, and conferences.
- Maintains accurate case information in the court’s case management system and adheres to confidentiality and security of sensitive information.
- Retrieves information from files, manually and electronically, and prepares and distributes court documents.
- Accepts filings, receives monies and issues receipts.
- Performs other duties and projects as assigned by Clerk of Court and Court Administrator.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of court procedures helpful; ability to multi‑task and perform duties under a fast‑paced environment; ability to step in and support other staff as needed. Ability to clearly communicate with attorneys, support staff, law enforcement, and general public. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills required; and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School degree or equivalent combination of training or experience with general clerical, math and bookkeeping skills. Computer and typing skills required and preferred understanding of Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook. College‑level business courses a plus; 1‑3 years of clerical, administrative, or court‑related experience preferred.
JOB CONDITIONS
This is generally sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires fingering, climbing, stooping, kneeling, pushing and pulling and repetitive motions; verbal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word;
hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities; the worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
