The Doctors Company is seeking a Claims Administrative Specialist to support our Jacksonville, FL team.
Responsible for introduction and instruction to members and callers to obtain necessary written documentation to create an electronic a claim file. Also provides clerical and technical assistance to the assigned claims staff. Maintains specific, timely, accurate coding and file updates to support data warehouse searches for claims processing and The Doctors Company research projects. The position’s contacts are employees, member physicians, agents, brokers vendors, defense lawyers, administrators and patients. This position works under immediate supervision.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Experience in insurance or healthcare industry preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Demonstrates organizational skills and attention to detail
Strong customer service skills and ability to work on a high performing team
Ability to follow departmental procedures with a high degree of accuracy and detail
Ability to prioritize workload to meet pertinent deadlines and response dates
Ability to handle confidential personal health information in accordance with company policy
Ability to support internal and external stakeholders with diverse backgrounds and personalities
Responsibilities
Internal/ External Customer Collaboration & Support
Interfaces with insured members in a professional manner necessary to achieve the best possible outcome.
Professionally engages both internal and external customers when necessary without prompting.
Uses internal resources to assist with problem solving.
Actively collaborates within the claim department and with other departments to achieve the best customer engagement outcome.
Supports internal and external stakeholders throughout the claim process.
Claims Guidelines (File Documentation / Management)
Maintains a broad-based understanding of the company standards and guidelines.
Articulates guidelines to both internal and external stakeholders when necessary.
Seeks to actively meet the expected company and department standards and guidelines.
Uses appropriate judgement in applying guidelines to achieve the desired outcomes for all internal and external stakeholders.
Monitors and approves fees and expenses within authority to comply with company guidelines and state statutory guidelines.
Evaluates attorney work product/performance and advises supervisor of any need for corrective action or improvement.
Member Service
Provides clear communication to members and follows up as necessary based on expectations agreed to with the member.
Maintains awareness of member’s needs and context of their communication in order to provide proper support.
Elevates concerns expressed by the insured member to management as necessary.
Provides high-quality, comprehensive work-product that facilitates efficient/effective downstream workflow.
Policy/ Procedure Development and Compliance
Complies with all established policies and procedures for the service team.
Identifies and elevates potential areas for improvement and service enhancements.
Actively remedies compliance issues as identified by management.
Other Duties as Assigned
Supports process improvement projects and initiatives.
Salary Range: $45,083 – $59,172
Compensation varies based on skills, knowledge, and education. We consider factors such as specialized skills, depth of knowledge in the field, and educational background to ensure fair and competitive pay.
