Job Summary

The Director of Division Administration supervises the administrative services and general operations of the divisions in the Department of Pediatrics. The position will establish operational objectives, work plans, and delegates assignments to subordinate managers and manages, administers, and directs resources. The incumbent will review and approve recommendations foroptimizationof division operations and monitor divisions adherence to approved budgets in coordination with the Chief Financial Officer.

They will be involved in developing, modifying and executing organizational policies that affect immediate operation(s) and may also have organization-wide effect. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules.

Reporting to the Associate Chair of Administration and Finance, the Director of Division Administration, is responsible for the administrative management of the 20 divisions. The Director will supervise the divisions administrators, will be responsible for strategizing, implementing, and evaluating administrative structures to support all division programs. The incumbent is expected to take aleadershiprole instrategic planningto fostercustomer-focusedclinical services while administratively integrating the university goals of teaching, research and public service and to establish operations that will thrive in a volatile healthcare marketplace.

The Director will function as part of the Senior AdministratorLeadershipTeam to provide operational effectiveness and guidance. The incumbent will work with the Director of Research to ensure the division coordination and partnership regarding extramural support management for contracts, grants and clinical trials, to ensure compliance of research programs. The position will oversee the administrative and humanresource managementfor the divisions.

The position is charged with optimizingresource utilization, setting up effective administrative systems, create standardized policies, and training of management and staff on procedures and processes while minimizing risk.

Please note:

The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% – 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
