Job Overview

This classification is responsible for professional staff work of average difficulty in relieving executive leadership. The role performs general administrative and staff assignments, including liaison work, public contact, staff studies and analyses, and may act as a surrogate for an appointed executive. The position may directly supervise subordinate staff, and differs from Executive Admin Assistant 2 in scope and complexity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as liaison to the Governor’s office, legislative officials, Governor’s regional offices, other departments, and various governments, groups, and entities; maintains personal contacts for policy discussion, explanation, and interpretation, and handles difficult personal relationships.
  • Coordinates and enforces existing policy and methods and provides input to policy development.
  • Performs varied staff analyses, including policy, organizational, facilities, and program analyses, and special projects.
  • Reviews documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to standards.
  • Supports leadership by preparing detailed and complex records and reports, monitoring and directing incoming communications, maintaining calendars, and assisting with project management.
  • May be assigned to direct the work of others.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of full‑time professional staff administrative experience or related work.
