Position Summary
The City’s Environmental Health Department is hiring for an Executive Assistant position. The Executive Assistant is responsible for a variety of highly responsible, confidential and complex administrative and clerical duties in support of the Environmental Health Department Executive Leadership Team including calendar maintenance; and travel arrangements. The position provides information and assistance to the public regarding departmental policies and procedures, and will be responsible for the supervision, training and oversight of department administrative support staff.

Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year for year basis.
Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in business;and
Five (5) years of experience in office administration;and
To includeone (1) year of supervisory or lead experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver’s License or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a City Operator’s Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
Preferred Knowledge
Office procedures, methods and equipment including computers
Electronic spreadsheet and word processing software
Principles of business letter writing and basic report preparation
Principles and practices of municipal budget preparation
Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation
Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations
Preferred Skills & Abilities
Independently perform the most complex administrative support services
Perform highly responsible and complex administrative work involving the use of independent judgment and personal initiative
Independently prepare a variety of reports and correspondence
Operate office equipment including computers and supporting word processing and spreadsheet applications
Select, supervise, train and evaluate staff
Work independently in the absence of supervision
Communicate clearly and concisely
Perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work
