Maryland Hall is seeking a dedicated Facilities and Operations Coordinator to support the daily operations and building functions of our historic facility. This role works closely with the Facilities Manager, our Programming and Teaching and Learning departments, and with our partners at Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) to ensure that our building is a welcome, safe, operational, and well‑maintained space for patrons, students, visitors, and staff of Maryland Hall.

From setting up for a wide range of events to assisting with special building and maintenance projects, this hands‑on position requires a problem‑solver with a strong work ethic and an ability to adapt to the dynamic needs of a building that does a lot.

Maryland Hall was founded in 1979 by a group of artistic visionaries who believed the former Annapolis High School could best be utilized as a community arts center. Description

What you’ll be doing

  • Facility Operations Support
    :
    Play a key role in supporting our daily operations. Collaborate with the Facilities Manager, Maryland Hall staff, and AACPS custodial staff to maintain awareness of facility needs and support a clean, safe, and well‑functioning environment.
  • Event & Program Set‑up
    :
    Coordinate and execute the setup and breakdown for events, performances, classes, exhibitions, and more, including physically setting up and breaking down bars, tables, and other items.
  • Special Facilities Projects
    :
    Collaborate directly with the Facilities Manager to address and prioritize repairs, maintenance tasks and requests, and facilities improvement projects.
  • Collaboration & Communication
    :
    Serve as a key point of contact between Maryland Hall staff, AACPS, vendors, resident companies, and other building partners to ensure smooth operations.
  • Safety & Security
    :
    Support facilities and operational safety protocols, including aiding in emergency responses as needed and contributing to emergency preparedness work.

What you bring to us

  • 2+ years of prior experience in a hands‑on role in building/facilities operations.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, including equipment and furniture.
  • Ability to be on feet for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to adapt to changing operational needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • A willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
