Hours: Standard University business hours
8:30am – 5:00pm (academic year)
8:00am – 4:30pm (summer)

Hours may vary based on operational needs.

Job Description

Faculty Support Staff in the College of Law provide administrative and clerical support to faculty. This role is essential to assist faculty in fulfilling their teaching, research, scholarship, and professional goals which, in turn, reflects on students, the institution and the legal profession.
This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU, Local 200 United.

Education and Experience

Associate’s degree preferred, may substitute three (3) plus years of relevant professional administrative support experience.

Experience working in higher education strongly preferred.

Ability to interact effectively with internal and external constituencies.

Skills and Knowledge

Successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, demonstrate initiative, and be able to multi-task and work closely and collaboratively with all levels of staff and faculty.

Strong skills in the full Microsoft suite required.

Ability to use and learn web and software tools and systems necessary.

Must maintain the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality.

This position requires the professional skills necessary for discreet, effective, and courteous interaction with alumni, faculty, administrators, and staff. The ability to manage simultaneous tasks, problem solve, prioritize deadlines, and use independent judgment is required.

Experience with event planning and clerical duties is preferred. Skill in writing and editing documents using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide technical and administrative support to faculty, utilizing tools like Microsoft 365, Blackboard, Zoom, Exam Soft, and staying current with emerging technologies to meet evolving needs.

Support scheduling for meetings, student appointments, makeup classes, review sessions, lectures, and major events like annual conferences and guest speaker engagements.

Prepare correspondence. Type/upload, format, proofread, and edit various documents such as manuscripts containing footnotes, exams, syllabi, tables of contents, graphics, charts, and graphs.

Prepare and reconcile University procurement card, travel, and expense tracking for faculty activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with University policies and budgetary guidelines.

Manage and distribute mail daily for Dineen Hall.
