Job Summary:

The Finance Administrative Clerk performs and assists with various accounting duties, including general ledger reconciliations, purchase requisitions, bank reconciliations, financial reporting, general financial record keeping, and other accounting functions in accordance with established procedures.

Typical Duties:

* Performs various general ledger reconciliations as assigned.

* Prepares and submits requisitions for purchase orders.

* Cross-trains with Accounting Specialist.

* Reconciles City credit card statements and processes payments.

* Reviews all travel requests to ensure completeness.

* Tracks, submits and reconciles all payables for the Tourism Department.

* Assists with the training and compliance of Open Gov contract management application.

* Monitors and balances various accounts; researches and analyzes transactions to resolve problems relating to accounts.

* Prepares journal entries.

* Documents accounting policies and procedures as assigned.

* Supports the Finance Department by compiling, scanning, and organizing records related to office activities.

* Sorts and distributes all incoming mail.

* Assists with the annual budget process for the Tourism Department and scheduling and notifications for all departments.

* Supports relationship between the City of Granbury and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and City staff: maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information.

* May perform other projects and handle special assignments as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

* High school diploma or G.E.D;

* Previous experience in similar position;

* Knowledge of modern office methods, procedures and equipment;

* Familiarity with computer input and processing; specifically, Microsoft Word and Excel.

Experience with Incode or other municipal software an asset;

* Be able to compile reports as required;

* Ability to work independently in the absence of specific instruction to perform job responsibilities;

* Courteous and professional when dealing with the public, and able to handle upset and irate citizens;

* Exceptional customer service skills;

* Requires a detail-oriented attitude to maintain accuracy;

* High School Diploma or GED equivalent required;

Work Environment:

Work performed indoors in a climate-controlled office, however, some exposure to outdoor weather conditions are involved while performing City errands. Work may be subject to time pressures, frequent changes to tasks, working closely with others as part of a team, working alone 50% or more of the time, and/or performing multiple tasks simultaneously. Majority of work is performed in an office setting and may be subject to ordinary risks typically found in an office environment.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to multi-task, and the ability to remain sitting for several consecutive hours, frequently. A majority of the work is performed on a computer. Hearing and vision must be satisfactory to the degree that duties may be performed effectively and safely. Physical exertion is limited to lifting or pushing boxes of computer paper weighing approximately 30 pounds.

Miscellaneous Information

The City of Granbury offers a competitive salary depending on qualifications and experience. The city participates in the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) at a 8% employee deposit rate with a city matching ratio of 2:1. The city pays 100% of the employee’s medical insurance and term life insurance. Full-time employees receive 40 hours of vacation at 6 months, then accrue each pay period based on the number of years employed up to 160 hours.

48 hours of Sick leave at 6 months, then accrue 3.70 hours each pay period. Full-time employees are eligible for 14 paid holidays. A full range of insurance benefits is also provided to full time employees. The city also provides a 9/80 work schedule where employees have every other Friday off.
