Job Summary
This position exists to advance the Department of Public Safety’s mission to protect people and property in Minnesota through prevention, regulation, information and service. This position acts as the primary public contact point for driver evaluation and assists customers by providing accurate information in person and processing customer requests, problems or questions regarding all phases of driver licenses. Other tasks include directing customer to a driver improvement specialist, balancing receipts, directing work to other units, processing customer payments, entering insurance information, closing license withdrawals, and processing incoming correspondence received by mall, fax, or other delivery methods.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Data entry sufficient to receive, review, and compare documents and accurately enter data.
Provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers on the phone or in person (face to face contact).
Provide in-person customer service sufficient to assist working in a high volume, stressful environment.
The ability to read, write and speak English sufficiently to understand and be understood in person or on the phone.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to problem solve, or to determine the action to be taken when reviewing driver license records.
Ability to analyze problems as they affect the daily work and offer potential solutions.
Interpret documents for reinstatement and take appropriate action.
Previous customer service experience.
Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities
Physical Requirements
Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools. May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
