THE ROLE

Using discretion and judgment and under the direction of an Assistant Treasurer and Manager, provides technical expertise and backup to each position in the unit. Understands and trains personnel on matters of a complex nature for an assigned group of mutual funds. Working with the management team, helps to assure that the unit meets or exceeds client and department service expectations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Manages Staff Administrator(s) and/or Senior Administrator(s); prioritizes and allocates work; provides guidance and technical assistance; makes recommendations regarding performance measurement, training, development and other related personnel activities.

Maintains expertise in all matters with respect to certain mutual funds assigned to a unit within Fund Treasury. Using technical expertise and up-to-date knowledge of accounts, assists others as required. Acts as a role model for the Administrators.

Under the direction of the Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer, and Manager(s) helps to assure the goals and objectives of the unit are attained. Discusses issues encountered on an account with the Manager.

Provide oversight of the Securities Lending Program including monitoring collateral levels, approved borrowers, lending limitations and board reporting.

Evaluates resources assigned to the unit, including observations about staffing levels. Reviews reports and otherwise ensures the integrity of information prepared or issued by the unit. Assists in developing control and management reports for the unit.

Assists in training the staff on professional standards required of positions. Assists with interpretation and application of new rules, regulations and procedures as they relate to the unit.

Assists in researching fund accounting and administrative matters of a complex nature and makes recommendations on resolution. Communicates with Managers, Assistant Treasurers, Treasurer and others on operating issues.

Reviews complex calculations such as asset based fees, expense caps, fund expense ratios, expense budgets, dividend distributions, income and yield, capital stock breakage reports, prepared by staff or accounting agents. Prepares same deliverables as needed.

Discusses fund accounting issues with auditors, compliance and custodian bank personnel if needed. Facilitates responses to auditor questions, comments and audit issues to assure that fund audits are completed. Facilitates response to Treasurer and Assistant Treasurers on board related matters.

Assists in originating or preparing procedures/job aids for the unit. Reviews from time-to-time to assure that all procedures/job aids are documented and updated.

Assures that systems and other records are adequate to meet the goals and objectives of the unit.

Listens and responds in a timely manner to service complaints and problems. Provides technical expertise on reports and services. Assures that reports are designed and completed with a professional appearance.
