Key Responsibilities and Duties

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Provide leadership and direction to the HR department, ensuring alignment with the school’s strategic vision and objectives.
  • Support the School Business Manager and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) in implementing HR elements of the School Development Plan to support continuous school improvement.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture, consistent with the school’s ethos.

Recruitment, Onboarding and Induction

  • Lead and manage recruitment processes, ensuring high-quality appointments that comply with safer recruitment standards.
  • Prepare effective recruitment materials, including job descriptions, person specifications, advertisements, and candidate information packs.
  • Manage the interview process to ensure a professional, welcoming, and legally compliant experience for candidates.
  • Oversee the induction process for all new staff to ensure they are fully integrated into the school community.

Compliance and Safeguarding

  • Maintain and regularly audit the Single Central Record (SCR), ensuring full compliance with safer recruitment and safeguarding regulations.
  • Ensure the school’s HR policies and practices comply with Myanmar Labour Laws and international best practices.
  • Monitor and update HR policies, including recruitment, pay, absence, and safeguarding policies, in line with statutory requirements.
  • Actively lead safeguarding practices within the HR function, ensuring all procedures maintain a safe environment for students and staff.

Performance Management and Staff Development

  • Manage the performance appraisal process for administration staff, supporting managers and maintaining up-to-date performance records.
  • Track absences and lateness, conduct return-to-work interviews, and manage astaff bsence control procedures in line with school policy.
  • Manage and monitor Continuing Professional Development (CPD) records and support staff training needs within allocated budgets.

Employee Relations and Staff Wellbeing

  • Act as a key point of contact for HR-related queries, ensuring the Myanmar staff and International staff are clearly accessible and supportive.
  • Develop and implement initiatives to promote staff wellbeing, mental health, and work-life balance.
  • Support conflict resolution and manage personnel issues with professionalism, confidentiality, and fairness.

Administration

  • Support and liaise with agencies for international staff visa process and housing arrangements.
  • Staff insurance benefits.
  • Supervision of the Administration Team

Reporting and HR Administration

  • Prepare regular HR reports for the School Business Manager and ELT, highlighting key staffing metrics and issues.
  • Conduct staff surveys to gather feedback on HR practices and inform improvements.
  • Maintain comprehensive and confidential HR records and databases to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Other Duties

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with all students, staff, parents, and external professionals.
  • Attend school events, emergencies, training sessions, and meetings as required by the School Business Manager.
  • Carry out additional duties as reasonably assigned by the School Business Manager to support the overall effectiveness of the school.

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant degree or professional HR qualification.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in HR or leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of HR systems, employment law, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing HR processes, including recruitment, performance management, and safeguarding.
  • Proficient in Google and HR information systems.
  • Working knowledge of health and safety, child protection, and safeguarding regulations.
