Position Description
This is a substitute position. Hours may vary per week from 5 to 15 depending on library need and employee availability. This position performs customer service duties in support of assigned library functions.
Compensation : $15.91 / hour
Position Objectives
Assists library patrons at the circulation desk; issues or renews memberships; checks books in and out; collects overdue fines; provides information and direction.
Shelves books; straightens and organizes shelves.
Assists with special projects as assigned.
Maintains and updates newspaper and periodical displays.
Reviews shelves to maintain neatness and order.
Prepares a variety of library displays.
Contacts patrons in regards to overdue fines.
Assists in maintaining a neat and tidy library.
Performs related duties.
Desirable Training and Experience
Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
A minimum of one year of library-related clerical experience, or any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of library policies and procedures.
Knowledge of the library computer system.
Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
Skill in interpersonal and public relations.
Skill in oral and written communication.
