Responsibilities:

Manage the daily operation of two legal practices with a primary focus in Bankruptcy & Insolvency and a secondary focus in Commercial Litigation Prepare, edit and complete all necessary correspondence and documentation Assist with the finalization of various litigation documents for the Commercial Courts including but not limited to: motion records, pleadings, notices, affidavits, affidavits of documents and bill of costs Take initiative to appropriately maintain file organizations for assigned lawyers Produce the highest quality of work, including sending out demands or legal letters to opposing counsel Handle daily administrative details Manage duties related to accounting Accountable for all work assigned Arrange meetings Calendar management Confidential

Requirements:

Minimum of two years’ previous experience as a Legal Assistant in Litigation Successful completion of a related post-secondary Legal Assistant or Law Clerk program Excellent knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure Knowledge of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act would be considered an asset Experience submitting and formatting materials for the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Commercial List) would be considered an asset Previous experience with ACL is considered an asset Handle time pressure situations and stress of multiple demands
