Medical Claims Clerk Jobs in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada at People Corporation

We are seeking a Medical Claims Clerk to join our Coughlin team in Ottawa.

The Claims Clerk is responsible for processing group plan member health claims by applying established policies and procedures, responding to written, electronic, or in-person inquiries related to claims, benefits payable, and general group plan policies, and performing other related administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities:

Respond promptly, efficiently, and courteously to clients, members, or other external contacts.

Prepare correspondence using company standard templates for members, carriers, or clients.

Provide accurate and timely information/assistance concerning coverage, claims processing, payments, and benefits.

Notify the manager of any issues arising during daily work.

Liaise with medical professionals.

Perform data entry related to claims and member correspondence.

Verify eligibility of members, drugs, services, providers, co-insurance, deductibles, payments, and codes, including reviewing previous submissions and contracts.

Verify cheques, letters, forms, addresses, and reports for accuracy and completeness.

Process claims payments, including applying applicable deductibles.

Interpret policies and administrative practices to correctly adjudicate claims.

Maintain electronic data and documents, including scanning, faxing, filing, destroying, photocopying, and data entry.

Verify work and data for accuracy and completeness.

Prioritize tasks to ensure effective time management.

Maintain and update procedure manuals.

Qualifications:

Good knowledge of medical terminology.

Understanding of group or individual benefits administration.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard office procedures.

Ability to learn new software and technologies quickly.

Ability to interpret technical information.

Strong mathematical, organizational, and multitasking skills.

Adherence to company policies and confidentiality.

Preferred Skills:

Excellent communication skills in English and French.

Strong public relations skills.
