The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is seeking to fill a vacant Office Associate II (Information Specialist) position out of their Augusta headquarters.

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a customer service position with the Department’s Information Center that provides support and assistance to the public by answering questions and providing information related to safe and responsible participation in hunting, fishing, and trapping, as well as operation of recreational vehicles. This position also provides guidance to the public about living with wildlife in Maine. This position responds to the public in-person at the MDIFW Augusta headquarters, by phone and by email.

Additionally, this position serves as the receptionist in the front lobby assisting customers as needed. This position assists with the retail sale of merchandise to the public in person at the MDIFW Augusta headquarters.

This position involves the use of computers, entering, maintaining, manipulating, retrieving, and printing data as well as using a variety of other standard office equipment to complete a wide variety of tasks.

Because this position requires extensive daily contact with the public in person, over the phone, and in writing; providing a wide variety of accurate information regarding agency work programs, laws, rules, policies/procedures it requires someone who can provide a high level of professional customer service.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates 1) competency in applying a solid knowledge of modern office practices to perform complex, varied office support tasks, and 2) the ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take in accordance with standard procedures. All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Office Assistant I, Office Assistant II, and Office Associate I.
