WORK DAYS: 260 regular work days, if position begins July 1
PAY: Pay for the 2025-26 school year, ranges from $21.84 to $27.67 per hour. Placement is dependent on verifiable experience. We also cover your PERS contribution.

JOB GOAL:
To serve as a confidential administrative assistant to the Director of Teaching and Learning; to provide secretarial, clerical, recordkeeping, organizational, and support services. This position significantly supports ordering, receiving, and distributing District-wide curriculum. In addition, this position schedules, organizes, and plans District-wide in-services and professional development for certified and classified staff.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The requirements below represent the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities needed for the position.
High School Diploma or equivalent as required by OAR 581-37-030, Oregon Department of Education
21 years of age or older
Experience in an education setting preferred
Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, and staff
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions with speed and accuracy
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to research information and compose memos, letters, and other correspondence for a supervisor/administrator’s signature
Ability to compile information, maintain extensive reports, and prepare reports
Ability to quickly acquire a working knowledge of departmental policies and procedures and the operation of secretarial services within a program or department
Ability to operate standard office equipment (i.e., computer, telephone, intercom, calculator, copier, fax, etc.)
Skilled in computer operation and use of computer programs involving word processing and database programs
Possess language skills including business English, composition, punctuation, spelling, correct usage, bookkeeping principles, and practices
Perform physical requirements, which may include:
Moderate degree of physical stamina and occasional lifting to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand, walk, and bend frequently
Ability to use a computer, telephone, and other office equipment for extended periods
Ability to make frequent trips from the desk to the counter, files, and other locations in the district office/school buildings
Such alternative to the above requirements as the School Board or the Administration may deem appropriate and acceptable

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may also be assigned):
Serve as the primary contact person and liaison between the Director of Teaching and Learning and the students, teachers, parents, staff, and general public
Provide secretarial support to the assigned program, department, or director
Maintain and protect the confidentiality of program/department and student records
Interpret and explain program or department policies, rules, and regulations in response to inquiries
Answer telephone calls, make appointments, receive visitors, and answer inquiries or refer to the appropriate person
Perform a variety of difficult and responsible clerical, accounting, and secretarial tasks relating to processing purchase orders and the circulation of materials and equipment
Assist in generating and accounting for third-party billing
Assist in the preparation of correspondence, reports, memoranda, meeting agendas, records, and other materials following procedures established by the supervisor
Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with student and staff information
Compose, type, and sign letters to parents, schools, businesses, agencies, and the State Department of Education as directed
Coordinate special projects as directed
Attend meetings, take and process minutes, and make the appropriate arrangements for meetings as requested
Generate, compile, and maintain pertinent student data to complete the annual Special Education Census Report to be submitted to the Oregon Department of Education
Submits other pertinent State Reports to the Oregon Department of Education
Maintain grant and special services records as directed
Act as a friendly ambassador for the North Santiam School District
Perform such other tasks (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may seem to be appropriate to the Board or Administration

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, BONDING, AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED:
Possess and maintain a valid First Aid card if required
Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
