JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for receiving insurance and patient payments and records onto the Financial Electronic Health Record. Immediately supervised by the Patient Accounting Team Lead. Reports to Patient Accounting Manager. Non-Exempt position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Accurately encodes payments on transmittal forms for batching.
Lists and balances all payments received daily.
Answers the telephone professionally and in a timely manner; directs calls appropriately.
Orders itemized bills for patients and insurance companies when requested.
Enters and posts all payments which come in through the mail and enter.
Scans payment activity and saves by date.
Downloads files from HIS system to upload in statement vendor system.
Downloads 835 files from clearinghouse to post in HIS system.
Records thorough and accurate notes in patient accounts.
Responsible for researching unapplied payments/credits and post accordingly.
Responsible for reconciling payments and investigating patient accounts as necessary.
Keeps thorough and accurate records of payment receipts, reconciliation, audits, and other reports.
Reconciles postings to deposits daily.
Confirm payments are in accordance with contract terms.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

High school diploma or GED required.

1 year experience working with insurance preferred.

Required Skills

Must possess superior ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Additional languages preferred.

Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service.

Must possess high degree of organization and be able to multi-task efficiently and effectively.

Advanced computer knowledge required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.

FUNCTIONAL DEMANDS

Functional Job Requirements:

Job requirements include, but are not limited to: sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting and reaching. Requires good finger dexterity, repetitive motions with hands and fingers. Requires ability to have good vision and hearing. Pushing and pulling equipment may be necessary.

Job requires light lifting on an occasional basis.
