Position Overview
The successful candidate will perform varied administrative and fiscal support duties for the Solid Waste Division. Responsibilities include a broad range of duties, including support for solid waste events. This position requires strong organizational and office skills and the ability to work well in a customer service atmosphere and receive work assignments with general guidelines and instruction under minimal supervision.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR PERFORMANCE OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Required Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED;AND
Three (3) years of experience as administrative support or office support which includes proficient data entry, MS Office Suite including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project and SharePoint,OR
Any equivalent combination of experience and education that provides the applicant with the desired knowledge, skills and ability required to perform the work. For example: Equivalent combination of 2 years of experience and one year of related college/business school may substitute for desired experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
Experience working in the solid waste field.
Required Licenses, Certificates, Examinations/Tests and Other Requirements

Prior to employment, the successful candidate must:
Submit official transcripts from an accredited college or university or business school, if education is being used to meet the minimum qualifications.
Pass all job-related examinations/tests necessary to demonstrate required knowledge, skills and abilities, as determined by the hiring authority at time of job posting.
Authorize and complete a criminal background check. Information received is reviewed on a case-by-case basis and will not necessarily remove a candidate from consideration.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Principles and practices of office administration, including record keeping, secretarial techniques, and operation of standard office equipment
Correct and effective use of business English, spelling, grammar, punctuation and business mathematics
Use and care of personal computers/terminals, related peripheral equipment and word processing and database systems/software including proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Appear for scheduled work with regular, reliable and punctual attendance.
Schedule and prioritize workflow to complete tasks and meet deadlines
Work independently without regular direction, and troubleshoot problems in assigned area of responsibility
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, customers and co-workers at all organizational levels, using tact, courtesy and good judgment
Maintain a professional demeanor under conditions of frequent interruptions, high traffic and/or noise volume, shared space, heavy workload, and multiple deadlines
Maintain and monitor complex records and documents.
Understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Proficient computer skills and ability to type 40 WPM.
Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing.
Excellent customer service
