The Opportunity
We are seeking a friendly, organised Office Support Staff member to join our amazing admin team. You'll be the welcoming face and voice of Horizon School, supporting our school community whilst upholding our Christian special character.
This is a part-time position (approximately 25 hours per week) with flexible scheduling to suit the right candidate. You'll work alongside our supportive office team in a role that varies daily and makes a genuine difference to our school community.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the first point of contact for phone calls, emails, and visitors
- Process daily student attendance and maintain accurate records
- Provide administrative support to teaching staff and leadership team
- Assist with school events, communications, and community engagement
- Support enrolment processes and family liaison
- Maintain student and family databases
- Assist with general office duties including filing, photocopying, and correspondence
- Support the school's Christian special character through interactions with our community
About You
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and has a heart for supporting children and families. You'll be joining a team of passionate people who are committed to student wellbeing and our school's Christian character.
Essential Requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail
- Proficiency with computer systems and office software
- Commitment to Christian education and our school's special character
- Discretion and confidentiality in handling sensitive information
- Positive, welcoming attitude and professional presentation
Desirable Qualities
- Experience in school administration or similar environment
- Understanding of New Zealand education system
- Experience with student management systems
- Multilingual abilities (we have diverse school families)
- Previous experience working with children and families
- Local community connections
