Job Description and Duties

At the California Department of Social Services (CDSS), employees are our most important resource in serving and protecting California’s needy and vulnerable children, adults, and families. CDSS is seeking five experienced office technicians to join either the Child Care & Development Division (CCDD) in three different units.

Field Support Program/ Continuing Contracts Bureau

Under the supervision of the Office Services Supervisor II in the Program Office (PO), the Office Technician (OT) (Typing) functions as the bureau secretary for the Continuing Care Contracts Bureau (CCCB) and performs a full range of clerical support for the Bureau, which includes but Is not limited to: originating and typing complex and sensitive correspondence, controlling and logging Bureau information, filing and recalling a wide range of materials, answering telephones, coordinating meetings, ordering supplies, updating databases and maintaining supply and equipment Inventories. The OT must have knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures. The OT must be able to work well independently, as well as in a team environment, and under pressure with changing priorities. In addition, the OT must have good attendance and be proficient in computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook. Excellent customer service, good judgment, and the ability to communicate effectively are of primary importance.

Background Check Bureau/Case Processing Unit

Under the close supervision of the SSM I, the OT performs a variety of independent, sensitive, and detailed administrative duties related to the background check process. The OT has primary responsibility for the first step in the background check application process and various administrative tasks.

Adult and Senior Care Program Office

Under the supervision of the Office Services Supervisor II the Office Technician (Typing) performs a variety of support tasks for the Program which includes but is not limited to typing complex and sensitive correspondence, originating correspondence, controlling and logging Program information, filing and recalling a wide range of materials, answering telephone contacts, coordinating meetings, ordering supplies and maintaining supply and equipment inventories.Good judgment and the ability to communicate effectively are of primary importance.
