Position: PHLEBOTOMIST – FULL TIME
General Summary:
Performs Venipuncture and capillary puncture on patients. Travels between Toledo Clinic Laboratories as needed.
Works under the supervision of the Phlebotomy Supervisor.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Example of Essential
Duties:
1) Asks and records pertinent information (such as hours patient has been fasting) or for drug levels records the time of the patient’s last dosage.
2) Obtains the proper specimen for test(s) ordered.
3) Properly labels all specimens.
4) Properly instructs patients on specimen collection.
5)
Must be
able to Register Patients.
6)
Must be
able to scan ABN, Billing and HIPPA documentation.
7) Knows, understands and adheres to HIPPA policies
8) Knows, understands and adheres to all laboratory, Clinic and/or OSHA safety standards
9) Maintains a safe and clean
work environment
.
10) Drive to Satellite locations and be available for any other drawing opportunity.
11) Must know all aspects of each satellite location, what needs to accomplished and know it needs to be completed.
Other Essential
Duties
May Include (but are not limited to):
10) Correctly processes specimens which will include use of centrifuge and make sure STAT specimens are processed correctly.
11) Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required:
– One to two years of phlebotomist experience.
– Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.
– Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
– Demonstrates
adaptability
to expanded roles.

Education:
– Phlebotomy diploma from an accredited school required.
Preferred:
